With the weather gradually improving and the days beginning to stretch everyone is looking forward to the spring and summer. There has been a flurry of activity with lots of you having plans drawn up and and submitted to the council for a  Building Warrant. We have been busy providing a number of you with quotations for everything from garden rooms, internal alterations, extensions to kitchen & bathroom renovations and also the subdivision of an industrial unit requiring wc facilities and electrical work carried out.

Cut VAT now on all home repair and improvement work

Cutting VAT from the current rate of 20% to 5% for all home repair, maintenance and improvement work would benefit millions of UK households by eliminating rogue traders. Good news !  - The planning process has been simplified ! As from February, 2012 a large amount of domestic extensions/alterations/ garden rooms/sheds/garages etc will no longer require planning permission. This will make the process a lot easier and quicker.Hope this makes the decision easier for all of you who are thinking about carrying out some building work. Here we are in December already with Xmas only a week away! Another busy year is coming to an end in which we have successfully carried out the building work for a number of extensions, internal alterations including new kitchen & bathroom installations, landscaping works and erected/designed new garden rooms within the Kingdom of Fife.

We are currently working on a contract in Lundin Links building a sun room extension – anticipating some sunshine next year! Sun room extensions offer a good way of enjoying our Scottish summers ( without the room getting too hot ) bringing the garden into your home but at the same time they are a room that can be used year round with the installation of heating.

Another good idea to enjoy the garden in the summer is to erect a garden room which can be insulated, heated and put to a variety of different uses such as an office,studio, spare bedroom – plus it doesn’t always require planning permission. With the addition of some decking or a patio area – you can create your own little paradise in the back garden.
